How Do You Arrange Your Iphone Icons?
Posted by Matt Brown in Daily Ramblings on November 13, 2009

So I’ve had my iPhone for about 3 months now and I’ve loved every minute of it. Hands-down it’s the best device I’ve ever used. One of the biggest draws for me to the iPhone was the number of applications available in the App Store that was better than any other smartphone platform. I think that there are now close to if not over 100,000 Apps available.
With so many options of Apps to use, I’ve been playing around with how to organize all these Apps so that the ones I use most are quickly accessible yet the ones I rarely use are still easy to find in the moment that I need them the most. I’ve tinkered around with two different organization structures. Both of these structures include the same home screen – one that has all of the Apps I use everyday multiple times. My Wordpress Cheat Sheet
Posted by Matt Brown in Daily Ramblings, Insights on November 2, 2009
I know that there are many resources regarding this topic but there are never enough. I have been working a lot with Wordpress lately and am slowly putting together a library of template files that I can just drag and drop into new themes that I put together. I thought I would share just a few of these today. This post is dedicated to small snippets from Wordpress that will make your life easier. Or maybe my life easier and in this case I want to have them in one single post.
Theme Structure
If you want to create a Wordpress theme, these following files must be included in order to be a standard theme. You can create a theme using fewer files but this is the way to do it.

The Loop
You will often see “the loop” as reference in many tutorials or samples. This piece of code helps you display your posts on a blog. By entering custom HTML or PHP code inside the loop, you will make every post to benefit from that custom code. You can use the loop mainly in your index.php file but also in other files when you want to display multiple posts. Read the rest of this entry »
Mac Apps I Use
Posted by Matt Brown in Daily Ramblings on October 19, 2009
I thought I would put together a list of the applications, products and services I use almost daily. I’m always trying new software, so if you have something that you think I would like, let me know in the comments below!
- 1Password – This is a must have for anyone who has a Mac. Until recently, I had about 3 passwords that I used with all of my accounts in various places online. Since I saw the need to diversify my passwords to avoid being completely hacked, I use this app to help me stay organized.
- Address Book – Apple did a great job developing a simple address book that is also very powerful.
- Adobe CS4 Creative Suite Web Premium – I think it’s pretty self explanator, but I use this to handle all of my design and development needs (Yes, I still use Dreamweaver!). Read the rest of this entry »
Flip Video Intros New FlipShare Software
Posted by Matt Brown in Daily Ramblings on June 16, 2009
I have all these videos on my new Flip camcorder, and have to manually upload them to sharing services. What a pain. However, the makers of the Flip Video series of camcorders is easing that pain, releasing today the latest version of its FlipShare software with still-easier video sharing.
FlipShare now has something called Flip Channels, which is online storage of videos that you can share with friends and relative. In addition to Flip Channels, you can upload to social networking sites like MySpace and YouTube, and send video emails, all via the FlipShare app.

You Need to Flip for the Flip Ultra HD!
Posted by Matt Brown in Daily Ramblings on May 12, 2009
Meet the Flip Ultra HD. It’s my newest possession. It is a video recorder that solves every problem that you never really knew you had with other camcorders and luckily, you only have to pay $199 to buy Pure Digital’s newest camcorder. Trying to improve on a device that is successful because of its simplicity can be dicey. Adding features often means increasing complexity, as well as the heft of a device–and the UltraHD is bulkier than its predecessor. The Flip’s makers are keenly aware of these tradeoffs, which is why at first glance there appears to be only one major change in the new product: It now records in HD video (720p). But on closer inspection there are a number of upgrades included in the UltraHD that ought to make it even more popular than its best-selling predecessor, or the even sleeker Flip MinoHD. Hollrr is a very interesting business concept and that for many reasons. Hollrr’s goal is to help small companies launch new products. You help spread the word of the products you want to succeed. Hollrr allows you to root for products you think deserve to succeed. By joining a Tribe of Followers, you are able to promote a new product to all your friends via Twitter, your blog or even Facebook. Hollrr will work with partner companies to reward the Tribe for new customers it brings on board. What’s even better…the earlier you join the Tribe, the larger is your share of the Tribe reward. Twishitter: Because Knowing the Porcelain Habits of Fellow Tweeters is So Very Important…
Posted by Matt Brown in Daily Ramblings, Technology on May 5, 2009
Disclaimer: If this offends you in any way, I apologize. I just think this is really funny and worth sharing!

You may be looking at the title, disgusted, and thinking to yourself that no one could possibly want something like this. While I find the basis of the app humerous, I know some people simply won’t. The main purpose of Twishitter is to aggregate together all tweets concerning bathroom habits. However, due to the rampant use of “poo” words, the Twishitter timeline is actually getting clogged with bits and pieces of random tweets unrelated to actual potty time fun. Hopefully for the sake of Twishitters everywhere, they come up with a solution fast to clean up the mess. Still, you’ll occasionally get the explosion of excitement you’ve almost certainly never dreamed of. Read the rest of this entry »
